We had our two month appointment yesterday. I absolutely love Dr. Papciak. He really takes a lot of time (almost an hour) with us. He checks them thoroughly and seems to enjoy our children. We got a great report. Currently:
Daniel is 8 lbs 12 1/4 oz and 20 1/4 inches long. He is 3% for his weight compared to other two month old babies. is head is 37.5 cm, which is 5%ile. Don't tell him, we don't want him to have a swelled head.
Nathan is catching up to his brother. He is 8 lbs 9 1/4 oz (3% also) and 19 3/4 inches long. His head is 36.5 cm. Both boys have a little chunk to them.
Emily has gained an ounce a day since her last appointment. He said this was an ideal growth. She is now 6 lbs 15 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. Her head is 34 cm. She still looks much smaller than the boys and feels light as a feather.
The best news was that the doctor told us to not wake the babies up to feed them every 3 hours. He said if they miss a feeding, it's okay, because they'll still be eating the suggestion amount for their size. Last night was amazing, they woke up every 4 hours instead of three. That extra hour was HEAVEN. I know it won't happen every night, and that their 2 month shots may have had something to do with it, but I was SOOOO happy.
We go back in another month for a weight check and more shots. We postponed some of the two month shots til 3 months. This way, they'll have some shots every month.
Within the last 48 hours, my parents arrived and Will's parents left. It is hard saying goodbye, but we know the babies will remember all of their grandparents. It is fabulous having them here and helping. Especially when we go to the doctor, having extra sets of hands are helpful.
The doctor said the babies still can't be around other children, and he said he sees either a new case or a recovering child with RSV almost every day. We go to the pulmonologist next week for their RSV shots. They'll have that every month through April.
My biggest complaint overall is insurance/bills. Yesterday, I went to fill a Zantac prescription to find out the prescription company didn't have Emily as existing..and they have Nathan as having a different birthday. Walgreens worked hard to fix the problem, but then gave us the wrong dosage of the medication, so that was another thing to get fixed. We are still trying to go over the bills, but I have to say that United Healthcare has worked hard in assisting us. It just seems to be a never ending process.
The babies look great and enjoy the bottles. Occasionally, Daniel likes to share some of his food by giving a little back. He is so thoughtful. They all look so adorable when in their crib. They always gravitate toward each other and touch either hands or feed. It makes me smile every time I look at them.
We'll take some new pictures soon!
